Looking for something FUN to do for the day?

Situated on a 75 hectare estate, 45 mins south of Sandton, Bass Lake is an adventure resort catering for Individuals, Team Building, Corporate Days and Family orientated activities.

Activities for Day Visitors

Picnicking, swimming, snorkelling (gear available for hire), kayaking (available for hire), SUP (stand up paddling gear for hire) and braaing are all permitted at the Lower level, waterfront area. You may wish to hire a thatched gazebo (you may bring your own, shade limited) / kayak or snorkel gear – please refer Rates Page.

You may also take your mountain bike out on our trail. Enquire at our Outdoor Shop for Trail Map. Mountain bikes must pay the entrance fee. You may also hike this off-road trail. (around 14 km: remember to take your binoculars along for birding).

Mountain Biking

The mountain bike track utilises the 4 x 4 trail, which has some very technical sections but there are “escape routes”. The track is set in our 75 ha estate of natural vegetation and river frontage. The entire area is security fenced. The track is demarcated clearly. Please ensure you wear all your safety gear.

Hiking

One can hike around the Bass Lake property within 2½ hours or extend the walk if you feel you wish to. Please report to the coffee shop, at the waterfront, for a map. Please wear good ankle supporting footwear and ensure you have adequate water and sun protection. This area is home to abundant and varied bird life.

Boating

Safe, stable one and two-seater Kayaks, Canoes and SUP board are available for hire. Paddles/oars and life jackets provided. Private boats may be used IF equipped with electric motors. Rates.

Bird Watching

Bass Lake and the surrounding areas host a wide variety of birdlife, thus making it the ideal place for ornithologists and photographers. Please contact us for more information.

Bass fishing

Restricted to certain times of the year. Confirm first before arriving. Safe, stable one and two-seater Kayaks and Canoes are available for hire. Paddles/oars and life jackets provided. Bass boats are allowed provided electric motors are used. Easy launch.

Photography

Bass Lake is situated amongst a most scenic and beautiful natural area and is ideal for the photographic enthusiast. Offers beautiful natural landscapes, and a wide variety of birdlife as well as plant life. One can also do underwater photography within Bass Lake.
