Basslake is in a state of crisis and we have launched the “Save Basslake” campaign to prevent disaster. We have always been able to maintain water levels by pumping around 5 Million litres of water per day, but due to increased load shedding and 400mm of rain, we can no longer pump the required amount.

URGENT: Basslake is in a state of crisis and we have launched the “Save Basslake” campaign to prevent disaster.

For 38 years, we have been able to maintain water levels by pumping around 5 Million litres of water per day, but due to increased load shedding and 400mm of rain, we can no longer pump the required amount. Our transformer is on the verge of being submerged which means we won’t be able to pump at all.

With no intervention, the water will rise at a rate of 25mm per day until it reaches the water table, putting all infrastructure underwater.

There is a solution, but time is running out. We need to install another pump in parallel to the existing one within the next 5 days to maintain water levels and prevent a disaster. We urgently appeal to everyone to donate to our “Save Basslake” campaign fund and help us avert this crisis before it’s too late:
